Sam Burgess, Greg Inglis, Todd Carney and Chris Sandow all find new clubs for 2022

Probably four of the most talked about NRL and Super League players in the past decade, Sam Burgess, Greg Inglis, Todd Carney and Chris Sandow are all set to play for rival teams in 2022.

Whilst Burgess is now coach of the Orara Valley Axemen, the former South Sydney Rabbitohs enforcer has flirted with the idea of putting his boots back on.

“I want to see if I can play a few games if I can get a clearance (from the NRL),” Burgess told the Daily Telegraph. “I’m contemplating playing. It would be great.”

Meanwhile, Inglis will don the Macksville Sea Eagles jersey in 2022, but he has also taken on a surprising coaching role on the side.

The Gumbaynggir Street Warriors, a team in the East Coast Global League, will have Inglis at the helm following a dissatisfactory stay in Super League with the Warrington Wolves.

Todd Carney has signed on as player-coach of the Byron Bay Devils in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League.

Carney played over 150 NRL games and over 50 Super League games during his 15-season career on the professional rugby league field and now he is trying to give back to the local game.

And, last not but least, Chris Sandow – formerly of Warrington like Inglis – will also come up against the trio in 2022.

Just over half a year ago, the diminutive halfback had talked about resurrecting his NRL career, however, that looks to be dead and buried as Sandow is instead set for a move over 700km north of Sydney to play in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition.

His new team: Casino RSM Cougars – a far cry away from his former NRL clubs South Sydney Rabbitohs and Parramatta Eels of old.
