Sam Burgess gives emotional admission about his past

Sam Burgess has opened up on the SAS Australia promo about his past indiscretions.

In the promo – broadcast on Channel 7 – Burgess was seen being questioned by trainer Ant Middleton who eventually forced the former South Sydney Rabbitohs hero to crack

“So tell me, what have you got to prove,” Middleton remarked coarsely.

“I’ve lost my career, my kids and marriage … there was a police investigation into me. Turned to drinking, drugs. I’ve lost it all,” Burgess was seen replying.

To see Burgess being laid so bare emotionally came as a shock for viewers, but it’s not surprising given the ex-forward’s recent past.

He retired in 2019 from playing after a serious shoulder injury, but then drug and domestic violence accusations were aimed at Burgess last year by former partner Phoebe Burgess.

Then, in May, he pleaded guilty to three driving charges following a police traffic stop where he tested positive for cocaine.

Burgess has documented his attempts of improvements with him claiming to have stopped drinking.
