Sam Burgess fires shots as rugby union opponents mock time in the sport

Sam Burgess has taken aim at his rugby union critics in a defiant tweet.

In reference to his time spent in the 15-a-side code, Burgess came out firing against an article written about Jamie Roberts – the Welsh centre whom the rampaging Yorkshireman silenced during the nations’ titanic clash back in the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Roberts claimed that “Wales loved England picking Sam Burgess”, which is ironic considering England were leading in that fixture until centre Burgess was hauled off in bizarre circumstances.

England were ahead 25-18 in the 70th minute when former South Sydney Rabbitohs star Burgess was substituted for George Ford, with the English then going down 28-25.

Inexplicable, Burgess has been blamed for the defeat in union circles ever since, but now he has come out firing against Roberts and the union conglomerate.

The winner of reality TV program SAS Australia said: “I’m sure when I left the field in this game we were leading by 10 points with 15 mins to go… @Jamiehuwroberts collided with me a few times. I think they enjoyed the game a little better when I left the field.”

Burgess has since turned his life around since retirement and rehab, helping friend and film director Russell Crowe with his latest film in Thailand as well as exploring Malta with him.
