Sam Burgess finds new role in Thailand

NRL Round 1 Preview

Sam Burgess is perhaps one of the most renowned rugby league players to have ever set foot on the pitch.

A young, Bradford man travelled halfway across the world to win the NRL Grand Final alongside his three brothers in what can only be described as one of the greatest moments to have ever been witnessed in the sport.

Now, though, instead of taking to the field in South Sydney’s crunch play-off clash with Manly at the weekend, Burgess will be in Thailand working behind the scenes on Russell Crowe’s film Poker Face.

Burgess is good friends with co-owner of the South Sydney Rabbitohs Russell Crowe, who played a key role in bringing over the Bradfordian in his early playing career.

The 32-year-old is keen to join the movie scene, with Crowe likely to give Burgess a shot. However, the ex-prop has only been employed in Thailand as an on-set driver rather than a film star at present.
