Salford v Wigan: Predicted line-ups and late injury news

Struggling Salford welcome fans back and high flying Wigan to the AJ Bell Stadium today. The Red Devils only have one win to their name in 2021 whilst the Warriors are unbeaten as they look to retain their League Leaders’ Shield.

It’ll be a tough task for Salford who will be without three of the four players who started in their spine on Monday. Scrum-half Kevin Brown drops out through a lower limb problem, hooker Andy Ackers is absent through a head injury whilst fullback Dan Sarginson is suspended. This does mean former Warrington half Dec Patton will be given chance to shine whilst ex-Wigan fullback Morgan Escare should return to the side. Another former Warrior, Joe Burgess, could debut but it may yet be too soon following his pre-season injury.

The Warriors meanwhile have an unchanged squad. However, there are doubts over the fitness of Morgan Smithies due to an ankle injury and he may not be risked. Meanwhile there are also worries over the availability of Willie Isa. This means the Warriors will almost be unchanged. It should be interesting to see who Lam favours at fullback however. Will it be the exhilarating Bevan French or three-time Super League Champion Zak Hardaker?
