Salford v Widnes: Predicted line-ups and late injury news

Today’s Challenge Cup action starts with a Lancashire derby and a game that in the not too distant past was a Super League clash. Widnes have to dust themselves down after an embarrassing draw with Newcastle as they go in search of the upset against last year’s finalists.

Richard Marshall is set to hand debuts to both Morgan Escare and Darcy Lussick as they both come into the 21 man squad in place of injured duo Dan Sarginson and Elijah Taylor. Joining them on the treatment table is Joe Burgess and Greg Burke. Meanwhile Kevin Brown, Ryan Lannon and Danny Addy also drop out and could be joined by other first team stars should Marshall decide to rest them.

Widnes meanwhile have their fair share of injury problems. Matt Cook misses out through a back injury, Logan Tomkins has a foot injury and Jayden Hatton will be absent with a knock. Meanwhile, Calum O’Neill will miss out through concussion.
