Salford v Leeds: Predicted line-ups and late injury news

In a repeat of last year’s Challenge Cup Final, Salford host Leeds looking to avenge their Wembley heartache. The Red Devils come into the game on the back of a gutsy 9-8 win over Huddersfield. Meanwhile, Leeds haven’t been able to fulfil their last two fixtures due to the coronavirus outbreak within their squad sapping them of momentum.

The Red Devils will be without Dan Sarginson and Greg Burke through suspension whilst Sebastine Ikahihifo, James Greenwood and Ben Davies also drop out. Salford could bring Danny Addy and Matty Costello back into the fold as they return from injury. Darcy Lussick is again available having spent time on loan at Featherstone. The suspension of Sarginson and Davies’ absence along with the injury to Kallum Watkins will leave gaps in the Salford backline today meaning Harvey Livett will return to the centre position. Ken Sio could also be asked to back up having played in Friday’s international.

As for Leeds, five of their squad featured in the international meaning one will have to back up. It won’t be Ash Handley following his head injury on Friday but it could very well be Matt Prior given his work rate. If Luke Gale is rested, Leeds will be left with problems in the halves once again. Liam Sutcliffe is still self-isolating meaning Richie Myler will have to come into the halves forcing Jack Broadbent to take over at fullback. Handley’s injury will most likely mean youngster Corey Hall starts in the backs whilst Bodene Thompson could return having missed the last few games. There could also be a first appearance of the season for Tom Holroyd as he returns from injury.
