Salford have confirmed the signing of Hull KR forward James Greenwood for 2020.

The former Wigan Warriors academy product has already joined up with Ian Watson’s side in training but won’t be able to make his debut until next season.

The 28-year-old has made just five appearances for KR this season after picking up a season ending knee injury in March.

James Greenwood has signed with Salford ahead of 2020.

He has, however, played a total of 81 games in his four years in East Hull, scoring 22 tries.

He becomes Salford’s fourth signing for next year, joining Dan Sarginson, Chris Atkin and Pauli Pauli, with more expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

“Salford are doing really well at the moment, he said. This is a new step for me and I’m really looking forward to it.

“Being around the boys, the conditioners and the coaches now, means I’ll be able to make that transition straight away.

“I’m just concentrating on getting myself back on that field, then everything else I’ll take care of once I get to that point.”

Ian Watson contract

Greenwood is Ian Watson’s fourth signing for 2020.

Salford coach Ian Watson added: “Greeny’s a great bloke and a big, no-nonsense, mobile forward, who’s is equally effective in the middle, or second-row.

“He’s got good leg speed and footwork. He runs strong lines, with great ball playing abilities and an attitude in defence to match.

“At 28, he’s coming into his best years and I believe we’ll see them at Salford.”
