Salford RLFC land two loan signings including international forward and ex-Bradford Bulls youngster

Salford RLFC

Salford RLFC have secured two loan signings ahead of this weekend’s Challenge Cup second round tie.

Mike Grady takes his Salford side down to Hammersmith Hills Hoists on Saturday, with the club looking for their first win since emerging from the ashes of former Super League outfit Salford Red Devils.

Salford know that a money spinning home clash against Hull FC awaits them in the next round should they manage to see off the challenge of the Southern Conference League team and as the club bids to get off the ground and build momentum, that could be crucial.

As such, they have made two loan signings that they hope will see them get the job done in the capital, with Sam Bowring and Ethan Newboult joining from Midlands Hurricanes temporarily.

At the age of 34, Bowring adds plenty of experience to Salford’s squad having spent time playing with Newcastle Thunder and Coventry Bears before the latter rebranded to Midlands Hurricanes.

He has made 48 appearances for the Midlands since joining in 2021 and he has five caps for Wales under his belt, too, with his last outing for his country coming in November against Ireland.

Newboult is younger and made just seven appearances for the Midlands last season. The playmaker spent time in the youth system at Bradford Bulls before joining the Canes.

Salford have had a busy few weeks since the turn of the year and loan signings are likely to become a regular feature this year as they bid to get themselves on their feet in the Championship.

The likes of Brad Dwyer, Sam Hill, Liam Cooper, Ollie Garmston, Charlie Glover and Fin Yates have all signed permanent deals but they will be supplemented with the additions of loan players from Super League and the Championship as the season progresses. In fact, last week saw four players drafted in for the week from Leigh Leopards with Will Brough, Ryan Brown, Nathan Wilde and Oliver Polec joining.

Deacon Connolly has also joined the club on a season long loan from Widnes Vikings and he looks set to make his debut for the club this week.

Collecting spurned people & other clubs rejects, will not make you competitive. Don’t build your hopes up Salford, as any other finish than bottom will be a win this season.
    In the future…………….

Without someone at each super league club investing 1 to 2 million £ every season many if not all super league clubs will go broke. Since John Wilkinson stopped propping up Salford more than 13 years ago Salford have struggled and he was no rich millionaire. To be truthful Salford would probably have survived by scratching around financially If it wasn’t for those arseholes owners the Jacobsens with all the lies they were telling.

So Mr dick head Dalton instead of taking potshots at Salford phoenix you should concentrate on keeping your club millionaire sponsor sweet by giving him your arsehole every now and again.
