Salford RLFC have confirmed the signings of four more players as they prepare themselves for the start of the Championship season.
The phoenix club are due to take on Oldham in round one of the new campaign next Friday night and they are still in the process of recruiting a squad of players. The club announced eight signings on Thursday afternoon with a majority of those being former Salford Red Devils youngsters or reserves players.
And, they have now added four more to Mike Grady’s roster as their squad continues to come together.
Finley Yates is arguably the most recognisable of the quartet for the role he played under Paul Rowley last year. The Wales international made six appearances for the Red Devils and that includes four starts at hooker.
The defeat to St Helens on the opening day represented his first appearance in the senior game, but the experience he gained in the Super League with Salford will have been invaluable for him as he looks to take the next step in his career.
Josh Wagstaffe is another name Super League fans may well recognise. He made four appearances during his time with the Red Devils, including three last season under Rowley. The outside back can expect to be a key player for the new Salford club moving forward and the 21-year-old will be keen to make a name for himself.
Jack Gatcliffe joins Yates and Wagstaffe in Grady’s first-team squad and at the age of 27, he’ll be looking to get his career off the ground. He has spent time with Rochdale Hornets and Salford Red Devils as a professional but he has managed to play three senior games with two coming in the red of Salford.
Lewis Pilling is the 12th signing announced by Salford and he joins the group after being a part of the Red Devils youth set-up last year.

Let’s not confuse ourselves. These are boys, and whether they turn out to be able to grow into men over the course of the season, is pure conjecture.
There are no key signings, experienced professionals etc, just the scraps from the table of all the other professional & semi-professional outfits.
Good luck to a first time coach as well – looks like you will need it!
