Salford Red Devils vs Hull FC: Team news, match preview and score prediction

Salford are in the position Hull FC dreamed they’d be in at this stage of the season.

The Red Devils are currently in the top six knowing that if they keep winning – having won seven of the last nine – they’ll secure a place in the play-offs and could even sneak into the top four depending on what happens with Catalans.

As for Hull FC, once again their season has stalled in the second half of the year and with plenty of injuries and struggling for results, they’ll be looking ahead to 2023 already.

Team News

Salford welcome back King Vuniyayawa, Dan Sarginson and Shane Wright to their squad this week as they finish the season strongly and only add to their squad as injured bodies get fit and offer Paul Rowley more options.

Manu Ma’u’s Hull FC career is over after suffering a broken arm last week whilst Joe Lovodua’s season is over due to a MCL injury whilst the same could be said of Danny Houghton too due to a quad injury. Fortunately, Jake Connor is back from a ban to ameliorate their struggles as Kane Evans also returns from suspension.

Match Preview – Key Battles:

Ryan Brierley vs Jake Connor: Jake Connor is back in time to alleviate the injury crisis at Hull FC and if any player in Super League can stifle Salford’s form with a touch of class it’s him. He may be an attacking threat at fullback but so is the in form Ryan Brierley at fullback.

Marc Sneyd vs Luke: These two were involved in a halfback merry-go-round ahead of this season and it seems it’s Sneyd who has benefitted the most with the play-offs beckoning Sneyd and Salford. But Gale is always a class act and like Connor he could upset the applecart at the AJ Bell.

Andy Ackers vs Danny Houghton: Both of these nines are great organisers, so it’ll be interesting to see which gets a foothold in the game first in an effort to dictate things.

Where the game will be won and lost:

Salford have been unstoppable at home recently in attack so the first thing Hull will need to do is try and limit that and get the ball to be restricted to the middle third. If they fail to do that, it could be a long night for the Black and Whites.

Score Prediction: Salford Red Devils 40-12 Hull FC
