Salford Red Devils vs Castleford Tigers: Kick-off time, TV Channel and Team News

Castleford Tigers are looking for their third win of the season and their second consecutive win when they travel to Salford on tonight.

The Tigers defeated Wakefield Trinity in what had been dubbed a “four-pointer” by interim head coach Andy Last and will now look to kick on.

They’ve shown a marked improvement in recent weeks and were unfortunate to come away from Catalans without any points but they’re set to face expansive Salford on tonight.

As Salford Red Devils host the Tigers on tonight, Paul Rowley has been able to name a 21-man squad this week, having been limited to 20 last week.

The Red Devils defeated Leigh for the second time this season when they played on Saturday and only narrowly came out on top in a 22-20 win at Leigh Sports Village.

Rowley will hope his team can build on that having lost their last two before the weekend.

The most significant name on the team sheet is Oliver Partington who had been excellent at loose forward prior to his injury.

His ability to be a ball-playing forward is something that’s key to the way Salford play under Rowley and he’s certainly a huge boost should he made the 17-man squad for Thursday.

Partington is the only returning player but he’s a massive boost if fit.

Centre Tim Lafai remains out and Andy Ackers will look to build on his return last week with a second straight game.

Alex Gerrard and Adam Sidlow also remain on the side lines but the Red Devils are slowly returning to fitness and they’ll need that given the huge fixtures they have coming up.

Following Castleford they head to Perpignan before the international break at the end of the month.

Last has been boosted by the return of playmaker Gareth Widdop who had been struggling with stomach issues that he picked up during his time in France,

His return is huge for the Tigers and brings leadership that is absent in the shape of Joe Westerman.

Westerman is currently serving a one match ban having been sin binned for tripping last week in their victory over Wakefield.

The return of Widdop is one of four changes alongside Sam Hall, Brad Martin and Adam Milner.

Those who are left out are the aforementioned Westerman as well as Albert Vete, Jason Qareqare and Jacob Hookem.

Hull KR loanee Luis Johnson will play again for the third week in a row.
