St Helens head coach Paul Wellens has made three changes to his 21-man squad to take on Salford Red Devils on Sunday. The Saints travel to Greater Manchester looking to return to winning ways after falling well short of the mark last time out at Hull KR.
Wellens’ side were soundly beaten by the Robins, who were preparing for the Challenge Cup final, and they’ll be determined to get back on the horse against a Salford Red Devils team who have won just one league game all year.
The Red Devils have made a habit of conceding a huge amount of points in recent weeks and they know they have their work cut out this weekend against a Saints side who are able to welcome back a couple of key men.
Kyle Feldt and Joe Batchelor are both fit enough to be included in the squad this week, with the former overcoming a hand injury that has seen him miss a huge chunk of the season so far.
His return is a timely one, too, with St Helens seeing outside backs Lewis Murphy and Mark Percival pick up injuries, while Jack Welsby has also been ruled out for 16 weeks.
Batchelor has missed the last two months or so after picking up a hamstring injury in the Good Friday loss to Wigan Warriors. Jon Bennison is the other man to come into the Saints squad, giving Wellens outside back options.
Salford have been boosted by returning faces, too, with Joe Mellor, Chris Hill and Shane Wright included in the side after overcoming injuries. However, Nene Macdonald drops out after taking unpaid leave, while Joe Bullock also drops out of the fold.
