Salford Red Devils man Matty Foster has put pen to paper on a contract extension to remain at the club another season. Foster has committed to another year at the Salford Stadium and he’ll be hoping for better luck with injuries this season.
The forward joined Salford ahead of the 2024 campaign after leaving St Helens, but played just three times before being ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. He’ll be given the chance to make more of an impression on the Salford support, though, and make his mark under Paul Rowley, who is preparing to enter what will be his final season as Salford head coach with plans in place for him to move upstairs.
Foster started his career at St Helens but struggled for opportunities at the Totally Wicked Stadium and made just one appearance for the club. His only other game time prior to joining Salford came while on loan at Leigh and Swinton Lions.
However, Foster will be keen to kick on this season and make the most of his second season with Salford.
“I’m really happy to extend my stay at Salford and grateful to spend another year with these boys,” he told the Salford Red Devils club website.
“I was gutted to cut my season short through injury, but I can’t wait to get back into training and look forward to continuing my development under the coaching staff.
“A big thank you to the supporters for all their backing of the team – I can’t wait to run out in front of you all again next season!”
Rowley added: “I am really pleased that Matty remains part of the group going into 2025.
“He has been fantastic on and off the field, a great lad to be around and an absolute pleasure to coach.”
