Salford Red Devils have announced the loan signing of Bradford Bulls forward Emmanuel Waine ahead of Friday’s clash with Leigh Leopards.
Waine has joined the club on loan for a month, ensuring he will take in the remainder of the Super League season with Salford before returning to Odsal. The utility forward steps straight into Salford’s squad to take on Leigh, completing their 18-man travelling group.
The 28-year-old is the fifth man to join Salford on loan this week following Hull KR pair Leon Ruan and Louix Gorman, Leigh fringe player Jack Darbyshire and Wakefield Trinity winger Neil Tchamambe.
The Papua New Guinea international joined Bradford on a two-year deal from London Broncos ahead of the 2025 campaign but he has found game time at Odsal hard to come by, making just eight outings under Brian Noble.
As such, he has spent time at Hunslet, London and Batley Bulldogs this season with the move to Salford being his fourth temporary move of the year.
Since joining London in 2023 after a spell with PNG Hunters in the Queensland Cup, Waine has made 36 appearances in England, with one of his four tries coming while representing Batley earlier this month. He’ll wear Salford’s number 68 shirt.
Waine replaces Ethan Ryan in the 18-man squad the club submitted to the RFL yesterday, with Ryan set to sign for Championship side Oldham, according to All Out Rugby League.
That ensures Salford will be heading to Leigh Sports Village with a very inexperienced side, with Joe Mellor, Loghan Lewis, Justin Sangare and Harvey Wilson, the four most senior Salford players.
