Salford Red Devils star reveals he has been playing out of position for a year as star player looks settled at the club

Things are all positive currently at Salford Red Devils.

Earlier this week they released their new jerseys for the 2023 season and they are certainly impressive.

But that was certainly upstaged by the news that they had signed star centre Tim Lafai to a three year deal.

On this, coach Paul Rowley said:

“It’s great news that Tim has chosen to extend his stay with us.

“He is a tremendous player and more importantly a great friend and teammate to everybody. He’s been a joy to coach and a very positive influence to our environment.”

Speaking of centres and the positivity around the club at present, Deon Cross, one of the greatest finds of the 2022 Super League season, was talking at a fan event today and revealed that he has effectively been playing out of position since joining the Red Devils:

“I played a couple games at centre, I had always been a winger. I sort of just got chucked in the deep end in training and it’s one of them, you sink or swim.”

At the same event there was a further hint that another star player Brodie Croft is settled at the club.

The club is reportedly discussing a new deal with Croft in the same way as Lafai and he seemed very happy to be at the fan event today.
