Salford Red Devils star Dan Sarginson suffers huge injury blow

Salford Red Devils have been hit with a major blow ahead of this weekend as star Dan Sarginson has been ruled out ‘long-term’ with a shoulder injury.

Sarginson was already due to sit out this Sunday’s match at Huddersfield Giants after picking up a one-match suspension from the defeat at Hull FC.

However, the 28-year-old has also fractured his shoulder which will see him sidelined for a lengthy time – making his England training squad spot look less likely.

“Sarg is obviously out but he’s picked up an injury now so we’d have been without him.,” said Rowley in his pre-match press conference.

“Dan has fractured his shoulder so that’s a long-term one.”

It will be Ian Watson’s first game in charge of Huddersfield against his former side in 2022 with both clubs enjoying good starts to the season.

Whilst both sides have potential banana skin Toulouse Olympique, the Giants have also dispatched Hull KR and Salford the Castleford Tigers.

Paul Rowley’s men have defied a lot of expectations so far this season to be two wins from three games, but a heavy defeat to Hull FC last week did cause a bit of a blip.
