Salford Red Devils signing set to sign for new club after just 2 Super League games

Salford Red Devils

The Salford Red Devils were expected to struggle this Super League season. The Red Devils lost a number of their biggest names to rival clubs, including Brodie Croft and Andy Ackers, who joined the Leeds Rhinos in a double switch.

However, the Red Devils have defied all expectations this year, and currently occupy fifth place in the Super League table. The club has developed a reputation for excellent recruitment and this was highlighted by signings such as Nene Macdonald, who has been one of the best performers in the competition this year, having left Leeds under a cloud.

The Red Devils may lose head coach, Paul Rowley, to the Rhinos now that former Managing Director, Ian Blease, has crossed the Pennines to join Leeds. However, the Red Devils look set to be hit with a more imminent departure.

One of their off-season signings appears to be on the verge of joining a new club having barely for Salford made an appearance this season.

According to the League Scene, posting on the social media site, X (formerly Twitter), David Nofoaluma could be set for a return to Rugby League. According to the report, Nofoaluma has joined the Glebe Dirty Reds for the remainder of the 2024 Ron Massey Cup.

The League Scene posted:

“David Nofoaluma will RETURN to rugby league.

“News Corp reporting that Nofa will be plying his trade with the Glebe Dirty Reds for the remainder of the 2024 Ron Massey Cup.

“There’s a slight chance for a NSW Cup recall with the Roosters should injuries strike.”

The Ron Massey Cup is a semi-professional competition in New South Wales. It is in the second-tier on New South Wales level competitions.

The move represents a significant step down for a player who was once a regular in the NRL. Nofoaluma joined the Red Devils ahead of the 2024 season from the Wests Tigers. He played 198 NRL games, with 192 coming with the Tigers and six during a loan spell with Mebourne Storm.

However, Nofoaluma has failed to make an impression since his move from the NRL. He has featured just two times for Salford this season. He made his debut in the club’s 22-12 defeat against the Wigan Warriors. He has not featured since their game against Castleford Tigers on the fifth of April.

Reports emerged in May that Nofoaluma was set to cut his spell with the club short, however, his exit from the club is yet to be confirmed. However, it appears that Nofoaluma will not add to his two appearances for the Red Devils.
