Salford Red Devils have signed a second Wigan Warriors man on loan ahead of their upcoming game in Round Eight of Super League.
The Red Devils will make the trip to Perpignan to face Catalans Dragons, taking on Steve McNamara’s side for a second time in three weeks after taking them on in the Challenge cup quarter-finals.
Salford lost that game but they weren’t blown off the park and they’ll take plenty of faith from that as they look to register a second win in Super League.
Ryan Brierley missed that game and it has since been confirmed by Paul Rowley to the media that the full-back’s hamstring injury has cleared, a huge boost for the Red Devils.
After announcing the loan signing of Jake Thewlis on Monday night, they’ve now confirmed another loan recruit which will help bolster their squad as they make the flight to France and bid for two more competition points.
Salford Red Devils sign second Wigan Warriors man on loan
The Red Devils announced the signing of Wigan Warriors forward Harvey Makin, who has spent time on loan previously with London Broncos, as Salford look to bolster their pack.
Players such as Chris Hill have effectively ran themselves into the ground with the veteran playing through a calf injury but now needing to be sidelined, as he was for last week’s loss to Leeds Rhinos.
Therefore the addition of Makin is a welcome one and one that Salford announced via a brief statement.
That read: “We can confirm Harvey Makin has joined Salford Red Devils on a month-long loan from Wigan Warriors.
“The prop forward has already linked up with his new teammates this morning for training ahead of our trip to Perpignan on Saturday afternoon.
“Keen to make an impression, the 21-year-old will add some energy and toughness to our forward pack as we attack the next batch of Super League fixtures.
“Everyone at the Club would like to welcome Harvey to the Reds and looks forward to seeing him in action very soon.”
