Salford Red Devils are in the market for a winger with Ken Sio having left the club on compassionate grounds.
His departure has been exacerbated with reports that a disciplinary incident has led to Joe Burgess leaving the club.
The departure of Sio has left them with a quota spot to use on a signing that can be used on a winger and one winger who could be ideal is Edrick Lee from the Dolphins. He is in the final year of his contract and is therefore most likely to receive a release.
His age and injury struggles also means a move to Super League is likely.
The 31-year-old made his NRL debut for the Raiders in 2012 after performing well for the club’s under 20s side.
At the end of 2022 he left Newcastle Knights to head to the Dolphins for what was supposed to be his dream move but his injury woes have persisted.
“It’s enjoyable, but tough, having to adjust to the Queensland weather,” Lee told NRL.com at the time of his move.
“I am from here, but have never done a pre-season here, so that’s the biggest adjustment.
“But it’s been good getting to know all the new faces and players, so everyone’s gelling nicely.
“I haven’t been home since probably just over a decade, and I left straight after high school, so to come back home and play in front of friends and family on a day-to-day basis is something that attracted me as well.
“Just to be a more consistent player and fingers crossed, touch wood, just to stay injury free,” Lee said when asked what his goals for 2023 were.
“I’ve had a big run of injury the last two years, so this is my first pre-season that I’ve completed in two years.
“[I am] just trying to continue to get better every day and not look too far, and to just focus on the now and hopefully steer in the right direction.”
He would be a terrific signing for the club after their recent blows in terms of recruitment ahead of the 2024 Super League season.
