Leeds Rhinos may be all guns blazing in their pursuit of Salford Red Devils star Brodie Croft but his teammate Ken Sio is staying put.
Ken Sio has signed a new one-year deal at Salford Red Devils, with the option to extend by a further year.
The 32-year-old has been a consistent, world-class performer, year on year and securing his services for another season is a huge boost to Paul Rowley’s squad.
An athletic, but intelligent winger, Sio joined the club from Newcastle Knights in 2018 and has since scored 78 tries in just 104 appearances.
Sio’s connection with the Salford faithful is evident and he has earned that affection with some incredible on-field performances.
The Aussie has been the club’s top try scorer for three consecutive seasons, which included a league-best total of 19 in 2021.
His performances were also recognised by voters by his two inclusions in the Betfred Super League Dream Team, in 2021 and 2022.
In reaction to his new deal, Sio has said: “I am really happy to extend my time at Salford – I can’t wait!”
Head Coach, Paul Rowley has added: “During my time at Salford, Ken Sio has been a consistent high performer on the field and the ultimate professional off it.
“As a man, he epitomises what we want our group to be about – hard-working, honest, brave and selfless.
“I speak for the whole coaching team when I say it is a pleasure and a privilege to be able to continue working alongside Ken going forward.
“I believe Ken has a positive influence on everybody he shares his time with and all the playing group are delighted his journey continues with us!”
Director of Rugby & Operation, Ian Blease has added: “To retain Ken’s services for another year is incredible news for everyone at the club.
“He is a model professional, who is clearly well respected by his peers and adored by the fanbase.
“It has been a pleasure to watch Ken consistently produce world class performances, year on year and his pure statistics are a testament to his commitment on the training field.
“Ken is so often at the centre of big moments and I am excited to see him do that for another year in a Red Devils’ shirt.
“I would like to send a huge congratulations to him on his new contract!”
