Salford Red Devils owners give ’12-day’ update with 2027 ambition outlined

Salford Red Devils

Salford Red Devils’ ownership group expect to have the funding the club needs to survive in place within 12 days.

The Red Devils saw a winding up hearing adjourned for a third time earlier today, with the club given the time they need to find necessary funding to settle their HMRC debt and secure its future.

The club’s owners have now confirmed that they expect to have the funds in place within the next fortnight, which would allow the Red Devils to look ahead to life in the Championship next season after losing their spot in the top flight earlier this month.

In a statement released on the club website, it is claimed that winding up would have been the ‘simpler financial solution’ for the ownership group but it would have come at a cost to local businesses and loyal supporters. With that in mind, the owners now hope to have the funding in place to ensure the club in its current guise survives, with ambitions of returning to Super League in 2027 outlined.

Salford Red Devils owners make statement

The statement read: “We are pleased to confirm that our new funding has been formally secured and is expected to be received within the next twelve days. Once received, these funds will be immediately allocated to:

  • Settling all outstanding debts with our local creditors
  • Clearing our balance with HMRC
  • Facilitating the formal withdrawal of the winding-up petition

“While winding up may have presented a simpler financial solution, it would have come at a significant cost to the local businesses, many of which are owned and operated by our loyal supporters, who have stood by us through challenging times. We have chosen the more difficult path to protect these vital pillars of our community, ensuring they can continue to trade and thrive alongside us.

“This decision secures the future of our 152-year-old institution, safeguards the community we proudly serve, strengthens our ability to build a competitive team both on and off the field, and preserves our strategic plan for a return to the Super League in 2027.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to our creditors, fans, and partners for their unwavering patience. Your continued support has been instrumental in securing the future of our club.”

Are Trump or Putin on the management group at Salford?
More talk and promises; precious little by way of delivery.

The only thing as bad as these strange weird owners of Salford, is the involvement of Salford mayor and publicity seeking mayor of Manchester who promises initially to get things done yet when examined is just talking rubbish and muddying the waters. Don’t forget he is inspired by professional rugby league clown Beaumont.
