Salford Red Devils have confirmed the exit of another senior player via a loan move with a veteran forward leaving this time.
The Red Devils have utilised the loan market a lot, both to bring in players and also to send players out for game time with Nene Macdonald’s shock move to Oldham last week being the biggest move yet.
Macdonald has yet to play for the Red Devils since their restricted salary cap was reimposed with the Papua New Guinean international not registered on that £1.2 million cap. As such, Salford made the decision to send him to Oldham on a three-week deal which sees him maintain his match sharpness.
Paul Rowley had confirmed that Sam Davis and Ben Hellewell were the two players alongside Macdonald not registered under their cap, however, they have been named in the 21-man squad to take on Leeds Rhinos tonight (Thursday), suggesting that Kallum Watkins’ exit has freed up the necessary cash.
As for this most recent loan move, Salford have confirmed that prop Joe Bullock is the latest man to leave the Red Devils on loan.
Salford Red Devils man the latest to leave via loan deal
Bullock has joined Barrow Raiders, the Red Devils’ dual registration partners, with the 32-year-old making the move with immediate effect.
His switch to Barrow also coincided with Salford recalling young forward Jamie Pye, who had been on a season-long loan with the Cumbrian club, but is now back and in tonight’s 21-man squad.
Confirming Bullock’s move, Salford announced: “We can confirm Joe Bullock has joined Barrow Raiders on loan as part of our dual-reg agreement.
“The prop forward completed a permanent switch to Salford Red Devils in late October 2024 after a successful loan stint from Warrington Wolves.
“After appearing six times in 2025 across league and cup competitions, Bullock will head to Cumbria for a spell with the Raiders, as they look to climb the table.
“As one of our dual-reg partners, Barrow already had young forward, Jamie Pye on loan this season, who enjoyed some valuable game time before being recalled earlier this week.”
A statement from the Raiders confirmed that the loan was a ‘short-term’ one and that the 32-year-old would be in contention to face Widnes Vikings this week.
