Salford Red Devils man hails new recruit amid ‘best I’ve felt’ pre-season verdict

Salford Red Devils man Brad Singleton believes Justin Sangare has the potential to be a key man under Paul Rowley this season. Sangare joined the Red Devils in the off-season after being released from his contract by Leeds Rhinos at the end of the 2024 season.

The Frenchman joins Salford on a two-year deal and will look to make his mark and prove a point in Greater Manchester. He’ll be competing with fellow new recruits Chris Hill and Joe Bullock for a place in the front-row, with Salford pushing to bolster their middle unit over the off-season.

Of course, Singleton will be another prop battling for a spot in Rowley’s side in 2025 and the former Wigan Warriors man likes what he sees from his new teammate.

“I think what you see is what you get,” he told Salford Red Devils’ official YouTube channel. “If we can get him playing happy and working to his strengths, I think he’s going to be a big obstacle to take on.

“He’s a big boy, he’s got a good offload and things like that. The most important thing is he’s really fit into the group and he seems a lovely lad.”

Singleton is now in his second pre-season as a Salford player, having joined the club from Wigan in July 2023. He has made 28 appearances for the Red Devils, including 22 last season as the club defied the odds to finish fourth in the Super League table.

“I feel probably the best I’ve felt in years, and it’s really exciting,” Singleton added. “I think it’s just starting again, getting back with the lads and chasing that goal of getting up the Super League ladder – it’s always exciting and refreshing.

“I always think you can’t win anything in pre-season, but you can lose it. So I think it’s vital for the team to bond really, and you get them little connections, and it’s the foundations you base your game on, and then build from that.”
