Salford Red Devils loan off-season recruit out with dual reg deal struck

Salford Red Devils' Sam Davis

Salford Red Devils have made the decision to loan off-season signing Sam Davis back to London Broncos. The deal comes as part of a new dual reg agreement with the Championship side, who Salford signed Davis from London for the 2025 season.

The hooker is still waiting to make a debut for Salford and currently finds himself on the outside of Paul Rowley’s squad due to the sustainability cap imposed on the club. Davis arrived at the club injured but despite seeing him regain fitness, Rowley has been unable to add him to his playing group.

As such, he will make the move back down south in the hope of picking up some valuable minutes in the second tier. He is expected to feature for the club this weekend, when Mike Eccles side take on Featherstone Rovers in the 1895 Cup.

The deal seems a smart one for Salford, who have been through the wringer on and off the field this season so far, with the club now able to keep such players ticking over away from the Salford Community Stadium. Speaking last weekend, Rowley outlined his hopes that Salford’s issues could be eased towards the end of this month, and once the sustainability cap has been lifted, that would allow Davis to finally pull on the red shirt.

The decision follows Nene Macdonald’s loan to Oldham, while Ben Hellewell is the only other high profile name in the cold due to restrictions. Macdonald has joined Oldham on a three-week deal, with Salford Red Devils’ hope undoubtedly being that he will be able to play upon his return.

London have had a mixed start to the Championship season and currently sit ninth having won two and lost two of their opening four games. However, they’ll hope to progress in the cup this weekend with the help of Davis, who spent much of his career to date at London prior to his Salford switch.

He has made 86 appearances for the club so far and he’ll ass to that this weekend.

Should NOT BE ALLOWED to loan out players while loading in player’s. Are they become number 2 on R.L.Favourite teams.
