Salford Red Devils have been given a boost that long-term absentee Kallum Watkins will be ‘back soon’ after posting an encouraging message on his Instagram.
The Salford centre suffered a season-ending ACL injury in June of 2021 and has spent the off-season getting ready for pre-season.
Multiple Grand Final and Challenge Cup winner with Leeds Rhinos, Watkins looks destined to be part of the new era at the Salford Red Devils under head coach Paul Rowley following the sacking of Richard Marshall.
Marshall was released from his contract following a dismal run of form in the 2021 Super League season which left the Red Devils second bottom and only saved by relegation by Leigh Centurions who won just two games all year.
Salford, however, recruited heavily for 2022 with the likes of NRL halfback Brodie Croft joining alongside North Queensland Cowbys Shane Wright.
Wigan Warriors youth product Amir Bourouh has also gracde the AJ Bell Stadium as a home player this season, as has ex-Warrington Wolves forward Sitaleki Akauola and former Leeds Rhinos prop King Vuniyayawa.
But, for Watkins, the hard work to get back on the field is slowly but surely coming together.
On his Instagram, Watkins posted a photo with the caption merely stating: “Back soon,” with his recovery almost complete.

Salford, meanwhile, have started the 2022 Super League season superbly, winning their opening two games against Castleford and Toulouse before coming unstuck against Hull FC last weekend.
