Salford Red Devils supporter group The 1873 will be marching in protest of the current ownership group once more this week.
Paul Rowley’s Red Devils take on Catalans Dragons on Thursday night and the hope will be that the troubled outfit can pick up their second win in as many weeks after stunning Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday evening.
That was Salford’s third win of the Super League season and while it doesn’t paper over the glaring issues at the club, it was what the players, coaching staff and fans deserved after a rough year. The final whistle was followed by celebrations as players showed solidarity with the fans’ cause, posing with flags and banners on the field.
Before Thursday’s clash, though, the Salford fans will be holding a third protest march against those in charge at the club.
It follows their first march, which took place despite the cancellation of the club’s Super League fixture with Wakefield Trinity last month, and the march that took place last Friday ahead of the club’s clash against Warrington at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Like the first, Thursday’s protest will start at Salford Roosters amateur club before heading under the motorway and to the stadium. And, the 1873 have teased that a special guest will be joining them on their way to the stadium.

Of course, the clash with Catalans takes place a day after club officials attend a hearing with HMRC, with debts thought to be more than £700,000. Salford were originally due in court in June but the winding-up petition hearing was pushed back to September, with the club insistent that a bridging loan was on the way.
