A Salford Red Devils fan favourite has spoken on his ‘crazy’ 2024 and outlined what’s helping him improve with a nod to a new signing.
Loghan Lewis joined the Red Devils midway through the season with the Australian signing in May on a short-term deal until the end of the season, before extending that in September to commit until the end of 2025.
He recently spoke on his own YouTube channel about his future with the 22-year-old ‘not too stressed’ and intent on letting his rugby do the talking in 2025 – something that was restricted somewhat in 2025 as he managed just 11 games on account of injury.
The Australian has now spoken to club media about his time in Super League, confirming it was beyond anything that he expected.
“Obviously the last three, four months at Salford were unbelievable,” Lewis explained.
“I ended up one part of the year in Canberra and then the next part in England, which was pretty crazy.
“I don’t even know what I expected to start with, but it’s been beyond anything I expected by a lot!”
Salford Red Devils star on becoming a fan favourite
Salford massively outperformed expectations in 2024 with the Red Devils, who were tipped by the majority of fans and pundits to be a bottom-three club, placing fourth and narrowly losing their first-round play-off game against Leigh.
Lewis has quickly become a fan favourite after impressing during his 11 games for the club – something he credits his teammates and fans for, in respect of making the transition so smooth.
He explained: “We’ve got a tight-nit group, I’m sure a lot of people have shown how tight we are in a social aspect, as well as on the field.
“And for the fans to welcome me the way they did – especially only after a few games with them – made me feel at home really easily.”
Incredibly, Lewis was voted as 2024’s Hitman of the Year with his status as a fan favourite proving true and he revealed what it is about his game that he thinks resonates with the fans.
“I think it’s my play style,” Lewis said.
“I give everything on the pitch and put my best foot forward every time I make a run, or make a tackle and I think they appreciate the little things.”
He’s also revealed that he is picking the brains of the club’s veterans, including new signing Chris Hill, as he aims for 2025 to be a season of personal improvement.
Discussing what he can improve in 2025, Lewis said: “Probably everything to be fair. I know we’ve got some veterans in this group – Singo and Hilly, and those lot, so I’ve been picking their brains and try to learn all the ins and outs of the game as much as I can.”
