Salford Red Devils have announced that they have opted into a dual registration partnership with a Championship side.
The Red Devils will link up with the Raiders as Salford and Barro commit to a deal for the 2025 season, becoming the latest clubs to enter a dual registration partnership.
In recent days, Huddersfield Giants have confirmed a deal with Hunslet RFLC whilst promoted Wakefield Trinity have opted to partner with Batley Bulldogs.
Now, is the announcement of Salford Red Devils and Barrow Raiders with the Super League side outlining the brilliant work that they have already done with the Cumbrian outfit as being key to why they signed the deal.
Sharing a statement, Salford Red Devils confirmed: “We are delighted to announce a dual registration agreement with Betfred Championship side, Barrow Raiders,”, before they would explain the recent ‘glimmers of success’ seen at Barrow.
A dual registration partnership allows teams from different divisions to help one another out with players regularly sent to earn playing time in an environment that is more competitive than the Reserve Grade game.

Salford’s statement would continue as it highlighted those recent ‘glimmers of success’, namely forward Jamie Pye who would sign his first pro contract on the back of six games with Barrow late in the 2024 campaign.
Those six appearances would culminate in his debut in Super League in Round 27 against Wigan as Paul Rowley heavily rotated his side ahead of the play-offs. Heading into 2025 and Pye looks set for a far bigger role, in part thanks to the stripes he earned at Barrow.
Salford’s statement explained: “We have already seen glimmers of success through this pipeline, with the most recent example prop forward, Jamie Pye enjoying a successful stint towards the back end of 2024 before signing his first professional contract with the Red Devils.
“The Cumbrian outfit is looking to improve on last season’s 11th-place finish and has already retained some key players, including former Red and Challenge Cup Final try-scorer, James Greenwood.”
Salford head coach Paul Rowley said: “On behalf of everybody at Salford, we are delighted to reunite with our friends at Barrow.
“We have a very trusting relationship and both clubs share the same family values of which we want our players to be a part of.”
Andy Gaffney, Director of Rugby at the Raiders has also stated: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to link up with Salford ahead of the new season.
“Paul Rowley is one of my greatest friends in the game, and someone who Paul Crarey and I have great admiration for, both from a professional and personal viewpoint.
“There is a lot of trust between the three of us, and I’m sure that the players who come in to bolster our group will be motivated to help us achieve real success in 2025.”
