Salford Red Devils 18-62 Warrington Wolves: Player ratings and major talking points

In a pulsating game at the AJ Bell Stadium, attack took centre stage as the league’s top try scorers set the contest alight with some brilliant tries. No side has scored more tries than Warrington this season and they added 10 more to their tally tonight in a fast-paced derby win over Salford tonight.

Major Talking Points:

1. Warrington’s attack is simply mouth-watering

Not only did the Wolves score a lot of tries, but they were fantastic tries too. The Wire scored points in pretty much every form. Whether it was a team move, an off-the-cuff piece of skill or an individual effort the Wolves produced it in an exhilarating performance tonight. They have the league’s best attack and their rivals should be worried.

2. Salford can still cause teams problems

The Red Devils never gave up despite coming up against a white-hot Wolves side. Already missing plenty of their best players, Salford lost in-form Harvey Livett to injury and went down to 11 players at one stage. However, they kept coming at Warrington and at times threatened a comeback. They’ve had a tough start to the season but have caused plenty of teams plenty of problems and will continue to do so.

3. Written off Warrington stars proving the doubters wrong

Chris Hill, Gareth Widdop and Blake Austin are three outstanding rugby league players who were written off by many before this season. But their recent showings have seen them prove plenty doubters wrong. Hill grafted hard tonight and scored a try for his troubles. Widdop was again a joy to watch in attack whilst Austin continually challenged the Salford defence. They’re in form and could take the Wire to silverware in 2021.
