Super League sponsors Betfred make Salford 4/6 to beat Warrington in tonight’s televised clash at the AJ Bell . Obviously the odds are heavily influenced by the fact Wire have to back up only 5 days after their sensational win at Wembley over St Helens . Steve Price’s side can’t afford many more lapses in the league though as a Red Devils win here would draw them level on points with the Wolves , in fact a 22 point win would see Salford move above their opponents and into 2nd place . Warrington should hold no fear for Ian Watson’s side as they have already won twice at the HJ this year and the Wire have lost their last 5 in Super League as the pack has closed in on them .
You can get 13/8 for an away win if you shop around and that does seem big , yes Warrington have made changes from the side that won the cup on Saturday but man of the match Daryl Clark should play and he may just be able to swing this in the way of the visitors . There’s no doubt Salford have massively overachieved this year , they were outstanding at Hull 2 weeks ago , but I think the Wolves may just prove to be too strong and win an entertaining game by 6-10 points . These are big games as we near the play offs and the Wire proved last week how they can put poor form behind them and raise the intensity when needed and I feel they may just do that here , they’ll need to be at their best though against a Salford side who’ve won their last 5 scoring nearly 200 points .
The value bet of the game looks like Ben Currie to score a try anytime at 7/2 and it’s impossible to see past Lance Todd Trophy winner Clark at 9/1 for man of the match . Hastings is the obvious choice at 9/2 in Red Devils colours as he nears the man of steel award .
Castleford travel to St Helens on Friday , as always please gamble responsibly .
