Salford make surprise Tyler Dupree call after transfer offers from two clubs

Super League star Tyler Dupree has made a transfer request to the Salford Red Devils as confirmed earlier this week.

Salford’s Director of Rugby and Operations, Ian Blease clarified the club’s position regarding Dupree earlier this week.

“I can confirm the club have received a transfer request from the agent of Tyler Dupree today. We have strongly refused the request, with the player still a big part of our plans going forward.

“As a club, we are committed to retaining our players and after a recent extension, Tyler is contracted until the end of 2025.”

Last week the club confirmed they had rejected a transfer for an unnamed player, now confirmed to be Dupree with two bids from Hull KR.

Dupree had a cryptic say on the matter as he took to Twitter:

“Two sides to every story. The truth will always be the truth even if no one believes it.”

Now there has been a twist with Wigan Warriors putting in a bid for the prop with the Warriors suffering an injury crisis in the pack.

It was always going to be interesting to see whether Dupree was named in Salford’s next squad as they prepared for today’s clash with Hull FC.

Interestingly, Dupree was included in the 21 but still the question remained, would he feature in the match day 17?

That question has now been answered with Paul Rowley deciding to start the prop despite the transfer request and offers.

The decision will be a surprise to some.

Tim Lafai and Ken Sio both return from injury as well.
