It’s safe to say that Salford Red Devils fans had a tough night against Hull KR, watching their side lose 42-0.
However, there was also news breaking that the players haven’t been paid this month either.
This led to lots of online discussion around the Salford side, from criticism of head coach Paul Rowley and the board to the attitudes of the players.
Rowley himself bemoaned his players for their pathetic defence and awful performance but also admitted that he has to take some of the blame for the performance also.
Rugby league and Salford fans react to wage payment delays and awful performance
As always, fans online had lots of opinions on Salford’s performance as well as the news of them not being paid yet.
Here are some of the best reactions from our Facebook page and across social media.
Some fans chose to focus on the payment delays for the Salford players.
Joanne Smith: If I wasn’t paid on time in my job, I wouldn’t be happy. We all have bills to pay.
Rebecca Jayne: Made an absolute mockery of the game. It’s the fans I feel sorry for, neutral fan of RFL.
Mae Sammy: Who in their right mind would go to work and not get paid? We all have bills to pay.
Susan Smethurst: Why the victims? The takeover was not to do with him, he should have prepared his team pre-season in readiness. They don’t look fit at all, half the team weren’t back onside when they got possession, looked like they’d never played together.
Others commented on Salford’s on-pitch performance.
Andrew Fennell: Can’t believe two games without a point. That club might dwindle
Tony Wright: 6-150? When are we having a bat? This isn’t doing anyone any good, we must be the only club bought out and still not a Bean in the coffers. As a season ticket holder, I’m sick of this season after season, is this buyout for real?
However, one Hull KR fan was complimentary of the travelling support, amid traffic delays.
Carl Young: I was at the game tonight and big credit goes to the Salford fans for still singing their songs and doing their thing. Not to mention most of them arrived at halftime after missing the first due to traffic on the motorway. The players should refund every fan that attended from a Devils persuasion.
Salford Red Devils fans will be hoping to kickstart their season against fellow strugglers Castleford Tigers next Friday.

With fans like this Salford would be better off with no fans at all. Most of them sound as though they haven’t got a brain cell tween them let alone a full set of teeth, what are they ? Trump supporters ?
