Saints stars could be fit for World Club Challenge

Injured St Helens pair Lachlan Coote and James Roby could be back in time to face Sydney Roosters in the World Club Challenge.

Saints Head Coach Kristian Woolf confirmed the pair would miss Thursday’s clash with Warrington Wolves, but they could be fit for the World Club Challenge.

Roby is recovering from groin surgery he had following the conclusion of the 2019 season, and Coote picked up a knee injury during last weeks win over Salford Red Devils.

“James Roby is not available just yet, the earliest he will be back is the World Club Challenge,” Woolf said.

On Coote, he added: “He suffered an MCL injury, so he will be out for a few weeks. In terms of the World Club Challenge, he’s still got some possibility of coming back there, but he’s not a certainty.

“We will have to see how he goes over the next couple of weeks.”

He also hinted Tommy Makinson would be available to face Hull FC next week.
