Saints slight jollies as top 2 clash at the HJ

Salford Red Devils v St Helens

The top 2 clash at the HJ tonight and there’s not much between the sides in the betting.

Betfred have Saints at around 8/11 with Warrington around 6/5, Wire have gone a little off the boil of late but they may have had one eye on this in the last few weeks. A St Helens win surely ties up the league leaders shield as it will put them 8 points clear at the top and leave Warrington looking over their shoulder at the chasing pack.

This is for me though a dress rehearsal for the Grand Final as these are the best 2 sides in the league and I think Saints may just pinch it. They beat Wire comfortably in the league earlier in the season and whilst this will be closer than that game, I think Justin Holbrook’s side can win this by 6-10 points.

Saints have been the most consistent side these last 2 years and have only lost twice so far this year, in fact they are unbeaten in the M62 corridor having only lost in France and London.

Whilst the Wires recent form is ok, 4 wins from 6, they’ve been pushed close by the likes of Hull KR and Wigan and don’t seem to have the same fluency they did a few weeks back. I expect them though to raise the intensity significantly for this game so none of the results would be a surprise, it’s 18/1 for a draw to send the game to golden point. Should be a cracking game, Luther Burrell looks likely to play for Wire and he couldn’t have asked for a tougher test.

Lachlan Coote would be my man of the match at around 8/1, he’s been the signing of the season with Austin the man in Primrose and Blue at around the same odds.

More super league next week, as always please gamble responsibly.
