The biggest game of the season so far on Friday night rugby as Saints and Warrington clash at the Totally Wicked Stadium .
These are currently the best 2 sides in Super League by some distance and this game could help us decide which side will win the League Leaders Shield and the no 1 seed going into the Play Offs .
The league starts to take shape around Easter and both sides are unbeaten on English soil , having only lost in Perpignan . Something will have to give and the bookies think home advantage is the key making Saints 4/7 favourites , with Warrington around 6/4 .
Justin Holbrook’s side will be looking to avenge last years heartbreaking play off semi final defeat to the Wire which cost them a trip to Old Trafford , that was the last meeting between the 2 sides . Warrington actually have a decent record at Saints , in fact both sides tend to do better away from home in this fixture , and I do think they can edge a very tight game . 13/8 is the best price around for Steve Price’s side but possibly the general even money on the handicap for the Wolves getting a 4 point start on the handicap is probably the best value as surely this game will be close.
If you fancy the hosts they are a best priced 4/6 , or 11/10 conceding a 4 start on the cap , but for me Wire are just the better side . They have quality right across the park and Austin looks a shoe in for Man of Steel . I do though expect both these to contest the Grand final even though it is early days .
A wide open 1st try market with Charnley favourite at 10/1 , my pick would be Makinson at 11/1 but Ratchford is way too big at 22/1 .
England’s 2 best hookers are Roby and Daryl Clarke this year and their clash at dummy half could be key and that is reflected in both players being in the top 5 in the betting for man of the match . Roby is a best price 6/1 and would be my Saints pick , just ahead of Percival at 18/1 . As for the Wolves , Austin seems to have got used to Super League now and looks the best player in the league , so I’d maybe just go for him at 6/1 ahead of Clark and Ratchford , both around 10/1 . Ratchford though is a popular choice in the Sky hut .
