Sacked Super League star finally signs for new club

After being sacked by his Super League side earlier in the year, powerhouse forward Siua Taukei’aho has landed himself a new club after months of negotiations.

Taukeiaho arrived in Super League ahead of the 2023 season on a two-year deal but tried to leave Catalans midway through that first season as he spoke on his NRL ambitions.

Canterbury Bulldogs had even launched a bid to sign him only for Taukei’aho to fail a medical and left consigned to remain a Dragons player for 2024.

Despite that, he would not play a single game for Steve McNamara’s side in 2024 before then being sacked alongside Jayden Nikorima and Damel Diakhate for what was initially described as “an incident deemed to be highly unacceptable by the Club”.

It was later revealed that the trio had skipped a training session in order to attend a concert in England whilst also failing to attend the mid-season international between France and England.

Now, four months down the line and Taukei’aho has finally found himself a new club.

Sacked Super League man joins NRL side

Reports linking the goal-kicking forward have swirled since his Super League exit with at least three different teams named in those reports but he’s now landed a new deal.

Taukei’aho has signed a one-year deal with Manly Sea Eagles after seeing previous attempts to sign Down Under all fail. Canterbury’s move for him in July was blocked by the NRL, Sydney Roosters baulked at his asking price of $500,000, whilst Manly had previously pulled out of negotiations too.

However, the ink is now dry on the contract with the NRL side officially announcing the signing of the 32-year-old this morning via a statement.

It read: “Manly Warringah Sea Eagles secure two-time Premiership winner Siua Taukei’aho.

“The Sea Eagles’ new signing, Siua Taukei’aho, is poised to bring a wealth of experience and strength to the team in 2025.

“The 32-year-old arrives at Manly on a 1-year deal after playing 169 NRL games (Warriors and Roosters) and 16 International matches (New Zealand and Mate Ma’a Tonga).”

Speaking on his arrival, Manly head coach Anthony Seibold said: “Siua is a two-time Premiership winner and International representative, he brings significant leadership experience to the team.

“He has consistently demonstrated hard work and reliability throughout his career and will be an excellent addition to our Club.”
