Head coach Kurt Haggerty believes Ryan Sutton was the ‘perfect fit’ for Bradford Bulls as preparations continue for the new Super League season.
Sutton has penned a one-year deal with the Bulls in a deal that brings him back to the UK after spending the last seven years down under in the NRL. He is the 13th player Bradford have added ahead of their return to the top flight and he is by far the most high profile with the prop adding pedigree, size and talent to Haggerty’s first-team environment.
The 30-year-old has struggled with injuries over the last few seasons, restricting him to just 13 appearances in the NRL since leaving Canberra Raiders in 2022. Those injuries saw him released by Canterbury Bulldogs in March 2025 and he spent the second half of the season with Gold Coast Titans.
However, he was unable to make a first team appearance for the Titans through injury once more. Speaking earlier this autumn in an interview down under, though, Sutton outlined his belief that he had shaken off those issues and he had his eyes on another deal in the NRL at the time.
Bradford have stepped in to sign the Englishman up before anyone else could, though, bringing the former Wigan Warriors man back to the Northern Hemisphere competition and Haggerty has labelled him a ‘statement signing’.

“After speaking to Ryan on a couple of occasions over the last week I knew he was the perfect fit for the Bulls, he is ultra-competitive, physical and ambitious,” Haggerty told the Bradford Bulls website.
“He is a massive statement signing for the club. He will bring a wealth of experience and a healthy competitive nature to the team.”
Speaking on the move over to West Yorkshire, Sutton said: “I’m really excited to be joining the Bradford Bulls. Getting back into Super League is such an exciting time for everyone in the community and I’m really looking forward to being a part of history with this great team.
“I can’t wait to get over to England and meet the team, coaches and especially you fans ahead of the 2026 season, I can’t wait to get stuck in!”
