Ryan Hampshire could have played his last game for Castleford Tigers as Lee Radford gives damning news

Ryan Hampshire could have played his last game for Castleford Tigers as Lee Radford gives damning news on the playmaker.

Hampshire went off injured in Castleford’s win over Catalans Dragons last week, but it wasn’t initially thought to be that bad, however, Radford has confirmed he could be out for the season.

With the former Wakefield Trinity man only signing a deal until the end of the season, it means that Hampshire could have played his last game for the Tigers in what has been an awful injury-hit year for the livewire.

“It doesn’t look great,” Radford told BBC Radio Leeds.

“We’ve got a second scan booked in for him early next week, but his ACL doesn’t look great if we’re being honest.

“It’s really unfortunate for him because in the last three games, I think he’s been really good for us.

“It’s disappointing and it is a blow – the timing couldn’t be any worse for him really, but unfortunately, it’s a part of the sport that we play.

“I felt form wise he was in a really good place as he was adding to us and the way we played, so to lose him is obviously a knock for us.”

Castleford will take on Huddersfield Giants tomorrow night at the Jungle.
