Rugby union star and soldier switches codes to join Leeds Rhinos in Women’s Super League

Rugby union star and Army rugby star Bethan Dainton has reportedly switched codes to train with Leeds Rhinos as Lois Forsell prepares for the defence of their Super League title in 2023.

The Rhinos made their Women’s Super League debut back in 2018 and in their first season were 80 minutes away from the treble till they lost the Grand Final to Wigan Warriors.

However, they righted the wrongs of 2018 when they won the double in 2019 at the expense of Castleford Tigers in St Helens.

2021 would prove to be the only season where they failed to win a trophy and in 2022 they defeated league leaders York to claim the Grand Final from third.

It is an off season of change for Forsell especially as she has lost assistants Anthony and David Gibbons who played for Leeds in 1996.

David’s son Joe will wear the number 33 for the Rhinos in 2023 after Zak Hardaker vacated the number.

In brighter news, the Rhinos look set to pull off a major coup and sign NRLW star Georgia Hale due to the fact she is the partner of Sam Lisone who signed for the men’s side in 2023.

Now they have Dainton set to join the squad two as she trains with the Rhinos according to Forces.

Formerly of Harlequins, she has been capped by Wales and is a star of the Army team too.

She even scored twice last year against the Royal Navy at Twickenham.

If she signs she will add further quality to the squad.
