Super League side Catalans Dragons have extended the contract of one of their brightest talents, as the focus turns to retention for 2027 and beyond.
The Dragons have been one of the busiest clubs this off-season when it comes to recruitment, having made 12 signings, though the work doesn’t stop there for Joel Tomkins and his staff.
Priority will now be on the squad for 2027, and the Dragons have began to bolster their roster for 12 months time by agreeing terms with young full-back Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet.
The 20-year-old had a breakout season in 2025, and has made a total of 23 Super League appearances.
In that time, he has scored 116 points, and topped the club’s charts last year.
The youngster is already a French international, having featured four times for his country since 2023.
Aispuro-Bichet is now the 14th player to be signed up to Catalans for the 2027 season, and after penning a new deal, he commented on what it means to him to don the Dragons kit.
He said: “I am very happy to stay at the Catalans Dragons. The trust the club is showing in me for the future means a lot to me.
“Wearing this jersey and playing in front of our fans is something I’m really proud of. See you very soon on the pitch!”
Head coach, Tomkins, added: “Guillermo is an exciting young French talent which we are very happy to have committed to the club for the next two years.
“He played more games than planned last season due to the injury situation we found ourselves in and handled the pressure well.
“With the correct guidance and hard work, he will be a very good player for the Dragons for many years to come.”
