Rugby league video game reportedly in development

Last year, the NRL confirmed their intention to release another video game in 2022.

This came in June 2021 when an email was released stating: “We are currently working with the developer to ensure the best possible game will be released. At this stage, the launch date is yet to be confirmed but we are hoping to launch in 2022.”

But it now seems that the possibility of a new rugby league video game is becoming more of a reality with The Sack Report down under reporting that the new game is in development which is believed to be Rugby League 5, the latest instalment in a long running series which started back in 2010 with Rugby League Live following the success of Rugby League 3 which was released the previous year.

Since then, a further three instalments of the series have since been released with the last coming out in 2017 with then Man of Steel Luke Gale featured as the game’s cover star in this country.

The reports down under centring around the possible release of a new game comes due to a social media post which appeared to show Wests Tigers players getting their face scans for the game. If that is truly the case, it stands to reason that the game would be released by the end of the year.
