Feigning injury is a big no no in rugby league.

Notoriously a tough sport, the game’s fans often pride themselves on the old saying “football is 90 minutes of pretending to be injured and rugby is 80 minutes of pretending that you’re not.”

But throughout last season there were some suggestions from Super League coaches that milking injuries was becoming more frequent in the game to get penalties.

In fact, recently Jon Wilkin suggested on Sky Sports that Leeds Rhinos star Richie Myler stayed down after a big hit from Konrad Hurrell to try and get a penalty and the incident saw Hurrell sent off.

However, in an amateur game, one player feigned injury for a very lovely reason.

As reported by ITV, Chris Robinson of the Greetland Allrounders in West Yorkshire pretended to go down injured in order to propose to his girlfriend.

Near the end of the game, Robinson went down and seemed to struggle to get up thus the referee stopped play.

As he remained on the ground, opposition players complained about time wasting.

As it appeared he was in a bad way, his teammates, who were in on it, asked his girlfriend Amanda if she had brought her car to take him to hospital.

The physio came onto the pitch with the ring and called Amanda over when Chris then popped the question and she said yes and that was how the game ended with a round of applause.
