Wigan Warriors and St Helens remain unbeaten and Leigh Leopards slip up in round three of Women’s Super League

Women's Super League round three completed as Wigan remain unbeaten

Only two sides remain unbeaten as round three of Women’s Super League continued, with Wigan Warriors continuing their dominance so far in 2025 and St Helens securing a win over WSL rivals.

It was a replay of the Challenge Cup semi-finals from mid-May as Wigan travelled to Leeds Rhinos and York Valkyrie hosted the Saints.

Wigan continued their impressive start to 2025 with a 34-12 win over the Rhinos, as the Warriors ran in eight tries, including a hat-trick for Molly Jones, to go three wins from three games at the top of the Women’s Super League.

It could’ve been a much bigger scoreline, but halfback Isabel Rowe could only convert one of her eight conversions.

Whilst it wasn’t an issue in this game, heading into a Challenge Cup final against St Helens, which should be a tight contest, Rowe will be hoping to rectify that this weekend.

St Helens managed to grind out a 16-12 victory over the Valkyrie, despite being 12-4 down at half-time.

In an untidy game for both sides, it was Saints that scored first after just seven minutes through a Dani McGifford try, before the Valkyrie got two tries of their own, with Kira Fitzpatrick and Emma Kershaw grabbing tries.

However, York were kept scoreless in the second half as Faye Gaskin and Naomi Williams off the bench scored, and the final twenty minutes were a nervy quarter for both sides, with Saints holding on for the win.

Leigh Leopards were surprise losers as they travelled to Huddersfield Giants, with the Giants securing a 32-6 victory.

The Giants raced into a 14-0 lead within half an hour as Amelia Brown scored a first-half hat-trick before Leigh closed the gap to 14-6 just before half-time.

Huddersfield kept the Leopards scoreless in the second half and ran in four more tries, including a fourth for Brown.

Rounding out the Women’s Super League round three, Barrow Raiders managed to get their first victory with a 14-6 win over fellow strugglers Warrington Wolves.

Next week is a week off for the Women’s Super League as Wigan Warriors and St Helens face off at Wembley in the Challenge Cup final.
