Women’s Super League has reached round six as the top two sides, Wigan Warriors and St Helens, played out a derby day classic.
It’s always expected to be a tough encounter when the top two meet, but a 22-22 draw meant it was points shared at the top of the WSL, in a repeat of the Challenge Cup final last month.
Saints raced into a 12-0 lead with tries from Dani McGifford and Chantelle Crowl before Wigan hit back through a Georgia Wilson score.
Vicky Whitfield gave the visitors a 16-6 lead at half-time, but it was the home side that got off to a quick start in the second half.
Grace Banks scored for the Warriors just three minutes after the second stint started, and Anna Davies followed up to level the scores at 16-16.
Luci McColm thought her try had won it for the Saints before Eva Hunter levelled it up for Wigan just six minutes from time, with both sides sharing the spoils following a great game.
There was also a massive win for York Valkyrie as they nilled bottom side Warrington Wolves, and claimed a 70-0 victory away from home.
Braces for Izzy Bibby, Evie Sexton, Tamzin Renouf, and Emma Kershaw saw the Valkyrie run in twelve tries on the road.
Huddersfield Giants continued their quest for the top four, beating Barrow Raiders 32-12, and are now just one point off Leeds Rhinos in fourth.
The Rhinos also picked up a big win on Friday night with a 48-12 win over Leigh Leopards, running in ten tries with nine different try scorers, with Ruby Walker the only player to bag two tries.
There’s only a two-point gap between second and third, but that could all change with ten more rounds to play.
