Wigan Warriors star’s testimonial confirmed after record-breaking performance

Wigan Warriors have confirmed a testimonial year in 2026 for one of their star players on the back of a record-breaking performance.

Liam Marshall made his 200th appearance for Wigan when the Warriors faced off against Huddersfield Giants on Saturday afternoon, winning 22-18 with a last-minute try from Jack Farrimond.

That try ensured that Marshall was able to celebrate his milestone day with a win, however, he had already wrote his name into club history earlier in the match.

Marshall scored after less than 15 minutes to register his 148th try in Super League for the Cherry and Whites, taking him past club legend Pat Richards and into the lead outright.

The winger had drawn level with Richards in Round 12 and, surprisingly, wasn’t on the scoresheet in Round 13 against Salford Red Devils, meaning he had to be patient before breaking the record this weekend.

It marked the eighth try of Marshall’s campaign and should he score two more then he’ll reach double digits on the year and bring up 150 in his Super League career.

Liam Marshall ‘incredibly honoured’ as Wigan Warriors confirm testimonial

As if becoming the club’s all-time Super League try-scorer on your 200th appearance wasn’t enough, Wigan quickly announced that the 2026 campaign will be a testimonial year for Marshall as well.

A club statement confirmed that with the winger set to be honoured after a decade of incredible performances, having first debuted in 2017.

Wigan explained: “The testimonial season will include a number of special events and a testimonial match, offering fans the opportunity to celebrate Marshall’s career and contributions to the club. Full details of the schedule will be released in the coming weeks.”

Marshall added : “I’m incredibly honoured and humbled to be granted a testimonial season by the Club I’ve supported all my life. Wigan has always been home to me, and to have the chance to share this milestone with my family, teammates, and our amazing fans means the world. I’m looking forward to what promises to be a very special year.”

Club CEO, Kris Radlinski, said: “There is nobody more deserving than Liam Marshall. Quietly and diligently, he has become one of the most important figures in our squad — a true tone-setter and mood-lifter. He’s taken the energy and positivity he brings off the field and turned it into performances that shine in big moments and big games

“Respected. Valued. Outstanding! I hope all Wigan and rugby league fans get behind his benefit season — he epitomises everything that we look for in a player, team mate and squad member.”
