Wigan Warriors and St Helens men charged by Super League disciplinary with Catalans’ star set for huge ban

The Super League disciplinary verdict after Round 14 is in with six players charged, including one who faces a huge ban.

It’s no surprise to see that Catalans Dragons captain Benjamin Garcia is set to appear before an Operational Rules Tribunal on Tuesday night following his red card for punching.

The Dragons skipper saw red both literally and figuratively as he grabbed Elliot Minchella by the throat before then throwing punches at the Hull KR players who approached him.

Garcia has been handed a Grade E charge of striking, meaning he will likely land a multiple-game ban as Catalans’ season goes from bad to worse.

Two other Catalans players were charged for their actions in the whopping 68-6 loss with Franck Maria handed a Grade C charge of head contact for his sin bin offence towards Sauaso Sue, whilst Chris Satae is hit with a Grade A charge of ‘contrary behaviour’.

The Catalans trio are not the only men to be charged by the Match Review Panel though with three others cited, however, none come from Hull KR despite the fact a melee ensued after Garcia’s moment of madness.

Two Grade B charges were handed out, each going to hookers as Kruise Leeming and Moses Mbye both copped three penalty points.

Leeming was charged with head contact in the win over Huddersfield Giants, whilst Mbye was pinged for dangerous contact against the Red Devils in Saints’ 46-4 win on Sunday.

Leigh Leopards’ Joe Ofahengaue was another player to be charged after Sunday’s actions with the recent NRL recruit handed a Grade A charge for late contact on the passer.
