Wigan Warriors have allowed new signing Jonny Vaughan to head out on loan in a bid to find game time in the Championship.
The centre, 22, joined Matt Peet’s side this off-season, in a double switch from St Helens alongside Dayon Sambou.
Vaughan has featured in pre-season matches against North Wales Crusaders and Hull FC, but will now look to continue his development in the second tier.
Joining Rochdale Hornets on a one-week loan, Vaughan will be in contention to face Keighley Cougars this week, as the club look to extend their unbeaten Championship run to three games.
He will be joined by Widnes Vikings half-back Kieran Taylor at the club. Taylor has experience playing out on loan already this season, having featured for Salford RLFC in their round two defeat to Barrow Raiders.
Commenting on Vaughan’s move, Rochdale chairman Andy Mazey said: “We’ve had a pretty intense start to the year and a number of unfortunate injuries, along with the usual wear and tear…
“Jonny is a player who Wigan have just acquired from St Helens and has plenty of Super League appearances to his name already.
“He has a bright future ahead of him, so it’s a real coup to get him on loan. Our thanks go to Kris Radlinski, Matt Peet and John Duffy over at Wigan.”
Bradford Bulls send youngster to Championship side
Bradford Bulls have also let one of their youngsters go out on loan, as Kurt Haggerty looks to test his emerging talents in the second tier.
Following news earlier this week that Jamie Gill and Alfie Leake will head out on their respective loans, Cameron Bate has also had a temporary switch confirmed.
The forward will head to Swinton Lions for the season, though Bradford do hold a recall option should they need his services at some point in the season.
