Wigan Warriors quartet and Hull KR flyer make Championship moves

Four Wigan Warriors players and one of Hull KR’s promising talents are in contention to play for one Championship side this weekend.

Wigan Warriors don’t play this weekend after being knocked out of the Challenge Cup earlier in the year by Hull FC, who Hull KR then beat on their way to this weekend’s semi-finals.

However, both sides will see players in with a chance of representing London Broncos this weekend with Wigan having had a strong connection with the Championship club all season long.

A number of Cherry and Whites have made loan moves to the capital and four could line up this weekend when London host Sheffield Eagles on Sunday.

Among those four is Jack Farrimond, who is regularly named to Matt Peet’s 21-man squad with the 19-year-old playing in the Round Five Super League clash with Leeds Rhinos.

Farrimond burst onto the scene last year mid-season as the injuries stacked up for Wigan but his crowning moment was at Magic Weekend when he led the Warriors to a 20-0 win over St Helens.

Wigan Warriors young star named for London Broncos

London boss Mike Eccles will be hoping that he can emulate that this weekend and he got a good sight of the teenager last year with Farrimond’s first two appearances for Wigan coming against London, in 60-22 and 36-0 wins. He scored a brace in that second game and also kicked all six goals in an impressive 20-point haul.

This weekend he could play alongside three of his Wigan Warriors teammates with Taylor Kerr, Kian McDermott and Lukas Mason also named in Mike Eccles’ squad. The other young Super League loanee is Hull KR centre Louix Gorman who has played for the Broncos in the last three games.

Both Mason and McDermott have played several games for Mike Eccles’ side but London have never had as many as four Wigan players available to choose from.

London sit 12th of 13 in the Championship with just two wins this campaign but they face another two-win side in Sheffield Eagles at Rossyln Park on Sunday.
