Wigan Warriors have confirmed the signing of England international Oliver Wilson for a “substantial” fee with a long-term deal agreed.
Having loaned England international Tyler Dupree out to Toulouse Olympique for the upcoming Super League season, Wigan have splashed the cash to sign Wilson from Huddersfield Giants.
Wilson, who debuted for England in the 2024 mid-season international against France was contracted to the Giants until the end of the 2028 season but Wigan have signed him in a major move for the Warriors.
Both clubs have confirmed the news with Huddersfield reporting Wilson’s exit as coming after Wigan paid a “substantial undisclosed fee”, which would obviously account for the fact Wilson was contracted for a further three years.
Wigan have also handed him a long-term deal, signing the prop to a four-year deal which ties the 25-year-old to the Warriors until the end of the 2029 season. Huddersfield had signed Wilson from Bradford Bulls in 2019 with the forward going on to make 114 appearances for the Giants.

Huddersfield confirmed Wilson’s exit and stated: “Wilson leaves the club with the best wishes of everyone connected to the Giants, with his contribution to the club not unnoticed during his six year tenure as a Giant, where he consistently went from strength to strength.”
They also confirmed that signings had been made previously with this in mind, stating: “In light of this move, the club has already moved earlier to strengthen our forward pack with the signings of Chris Patolo, Asher O’Donnell and Mathieu Cozza, three exciting young signings who will blossom under the leadership of Luke Robinson, Leroy Cudjoe and Liam Finn.”
Announcing their new recruit, Wigan Warriors said: “Wilson, 25, joins the Warriors after establishing himself as one of Super League’s most industrious front-rowers. A powerful, hard-working middle with a strong defensive engine and tidy ruck skills, he has accumulated significant top-flight experience and earned a reputation for consistency and work rate.”
Speaking on his move, Wilson said: “I’m really excited to be signing with Wigan, when I heard they had an interest, it was an easy decision for me to make, and I would like to thank my agent for getting it all sorted. It’s a great club, and I can’t wait to get going in pre-season.
“I would also like to put on record my sincere thanks to Huddersfield Giants and especially to the fans for the past 6 years, whose support was always unwavering.”
Having lost Harvie Hill, who signed for Hull FC, Wigan have found a ready-made replacement in Wilson.
